Introducing an elevated new line by the celebrated designer.

For Fall 2022, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of Albino Riganello’s Signature Collection, which will debut later this month exclusively at BCBG.com. Riganello was appointed Creative Director in 2021, and this collection will be his first for the BCBGMAXAZRIA house.

Inspired by the Venice Biennale in his native Italy, as well as archival BCBGMAXAZRIA designs, Riganello created a modern, elevated collection that combines his interpretation of the BCBGMAXAZRIA woman with the house’s signature aesthetic. “This collection pays homage to uber-chic Italian movies from the ‘70s and their icons,” says Riganello, citing Edwige Fenech, Barbara Bouchet and Zeudy Araya as some of his muses.

Riganello calls BCBGMAXAZRIA “the epitome of feminine modern dressing,” and it is important for him to stay true to this DNA. “This is a brand that aims to constantly evolve with a woman’s needs,” he explains. “I’d like to push the creative envelope, while respecting the codes of the house and creating new, strong codes of my own.” Speaking to WWD, he elaborated, "I didn't want to call this a new vision, because I wanted to pay respect to what's been done.”

The house codes he references include pleating, tailoring and color-blocking, all of which he reimagines masterfully. WWD describes the new collection as full of “myriad feminine dresses, ranging from fluid day-to-night options to a cutout knit number and a good amount of sequined and feather-adorned sensual party attire.” They cite a “black pleated leather frock with intarsia lace details” and a “voluminous red and pale pink color-blocked and pleated tent dress” as some of the standout designs.

Reinforcing the aesthetics of founder Max Azria, Riganello's Signature Collection is crafted in luxe, premium materials and focuses on innovative silhouettes in neutrals, as well as Biennale-inspired hues. Tailoring is a major focus for this season’s key offerings, but suiting is updated with unexpected twists. For example, a turquoise blue pant suit surprises with a belted, open back, and a millennial pink double-breasted blazer can be worn as a dress or a jacket. We’re especially taken with the cocktail and event attire, which includes an asymmetrical, olive green dress with a cinched cutout and a showstopping pink satin gown with draped chain spaghetti straps. The look, as described by WWD, is “sensual femininity through a balance of sportswear and eveningwear.”

If anyone can reinterpret the BCBGMAXAZRIA woman, while staying true to her origins, it’s Riganello. His resume includes design roles at Dolce & Gabbana, St. John, Givenchy, Zuhair Murad and sustainable brand AMUR, as well as a stint with Alessandro Dell'Acqua. Of the new BCBGMAXAZRIA woman, he told The Daily Front Row, “She’s not afraid of experimentation. She is an art lover, a visionary, a philanthropist, a pioneer and more. Her way of dressing has evolved along with the changing of the times. Versatility rules her wardrobe and her outfits need to be easily transformed from day to night.”

Riganello’s Signature Collection will launch later this month and will be available exclusively at BCBG.com. Become a BCBG Icon to get up-to-the-minute details on the launch and to shop the collection before everyone else.
